IIDE BRUSSELS
INTERNATIONAL INTERIOR DESIGN EXHIBITION BRUSSELS
HOTEL DE LA POSTE - TOUR & TAXIS, BRUSSELS
The International Interior Design Exhibition (IIDE) re-launches in Brussels with its groundbreaking history. In the 1980s & 1990s, it was the first European exhibition: The British Interior Design Exhibition, a pioneering event organized by Fleur Rossdale in London. This was an outstanding success, establishing itself as a showcase for design at the highest level.
With 30,000 visitors worldwide each year, this show propelled design to the forefront. Now flourishing, design in the early 1980s was a virtually non-existent sector. Fleur Rossdale has contributed to this innovative alliance of design with fine art, designers, and artists, welcoming names such as David Hicks, Mary Fox Linton, Colefax & Fowler, and John Pawson, or Parish Hadley from the United States and Garouste & Bonetti from France at her past events. An Interior designer herself, Fleur chose Brussels to revive this cultural event within the context of Belgian heritage. “Decoration and interior design combine craftsmanship, color, texture, and fine arts to create a melodious interior that offers balanced living.”
Each designer has selected multiple suppliers to work with them to realize their vision for the interior spaces they are creating for IIDE. Suppliers include Belgium, France, Portugal, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, the Czech Republic, The Netherlands, and The United Kingdom. Son of Ted Lapidus, the creator of unisex fashion in the 1960s and 1970s, for Françoise Hardy, Alain Delon, Twiggy, and John Lennon, Olivier Lapidus, directed the house from 1989 to 2000. After three years in Beijing, he launched Lapidus Vintage in 2010, a capsule inspired by the family home. He subsequently decorated the Hotel Félicien in Paris. With his vintage European style, Christophe Remy is an artistic director and decorator who challenges fashion. In a world of the ephemeral, his creations hold time and transform all that he touches into the ultra-desirable. Creator of Woodstock Designs 1981, renovating and restoring old houses and creating new build interiors, Henrietta Spencer Churchill combines trends, technology, and history. In 1986, Henrietta began Spencer Churchill Designs, a line of furniture and fabrics that expanded into the United States in 2003 with Spencer-Churchill Designs Inc. J. Phine is a duet. Natasja Molenaar was a lead created for six years at Studio Piet Boon before launching her freelance creations in 2010 and imposing her touch, in tune with both the client and the interior's architecture. Nannette van der Vooren, in 2015, after eight years of international projects at Studio Piet Boon, became an independent interior designer joining forces with Natasja.
