September 21, 2023 — Introducing Ova: A pendant collection that can turn any space into an elegant sanctuary.
Carefully handmade with dimensional glass layers, Ova casts diffused and ambient warmth through its womb-like, translucent inner body, bringing an energetic incandescence to an instinctively familiar form.
Akin to a living force found in nature, Ova’s luminescence brings a depth of movement that seemingly transforms from every vantage point. The warm dispersion of light between an opaque inner layer and a clear (or frosted) outer layer, its delicate spine and rounded curves flaunt unabashed attention to detail - something we obsess over at our Studio.

“The magic in Ova is what you don’t see right away,” says Matthew. “I love how the light becomes a curious oddity when the fixture is illuminated. The iterative process of creating the shape was consciously considered, from the amount of space between each layer of glass to the primal spine detail which adds both a depth to the shape and obscures the light source inside. The result is a deceptively lifelike form that captivates in both function and artisanal craftsmanship.”
With each piece locally handmade in Vancouver, the design process for Ova was a departure from our routine philosophy. Typically focused on a deeply iterative process on a path to perfectionism, Ova embraced serendipity and experimental play with both the material and its final form. Instead of aiming toward flawlessness, Ova’s production process strives to maintain precision while allowing the glass to reveal its natural attributes.
“Working with glass meant that we had to lighten our grip on perfectionism,” adds Matthew. “We started with an exploration of suspending glass forms within negative space, catching the natural movement of its molten state at the perfect moment. Recognizing there is some basic conformity required to standardize each pendant, I love that there is also beauty in how each piece is ever so slightly different for those that time the time to notice.”

Ova is an artisanal, modular pendant system that can be arranged in any number of possibilities. Standard Ova pendants have a white inner glass body with the option of a clear or frosted glass outer body. Custom configurations and micro-canopies are available upon request.
